It may shrink, but it definitely won’t close. If it seems like its “closed” to you after- go to your piercer and I can pretty much guarantee they will be able to taper it back open for you. Not necessarily to the exact size you were if it shrinks a lot, but you’ll definitely still have the piercing. Who knows, it could possibly even stretch a little more/easier after delivery if you have a lot of loose skin! If it makes you extra nervous though and you want to make sure it’ll stay open, they do make “retainers” for pregnant womens’ navel piercings that are made of a flexible material to sort of move with your growing belly. Those can work for some people. If you see any signs of rejection or migration or like the area holding the jewelry is thinning as your belly grows, remove the jewelry immediately to avoid losing the piercing through rejection or migration or having that permanently “stretched out” look some navel piercings get after pregnancy. Alas, every body is different, but with having it so long and the size it’s at, I would be IMPRESSED if your body total healed over the fistula and you were left with nothing. Congrats on your pregnancy by the way! :)
